I don't do web design, but I've created quite a bit of presentation material. Arial is my favorite, along with Tahoma and Verdana. I tend to steer away from the Times New Roman look.

I use Verdana a lot. I also like Tahoma and Trebuchet. I usually prefer sans serif fonts over serif fonts, unless I want it to look old-timey or particularly formal.

Hi friends...I have mentioned here some my favorite fonts.
Bell Gothic - font family
Franklin Gothic - font family
Futura-Condensed - font family
Helios & Helvetica -font families.
All these fonts are fantastic and useful for the professional designs.

Fallen for the Ubuntu font. Shame it render like crap on windows and mac.

I like to use Arial when I am writing, but for Emails I use Georgia. This is because both fonts are easy to read and do not strain the eyes.
