An effective way is tapping your customer. Find the community that is interested in what you offer/do and introduce your site to them. Be interested in them so that you can connect with them.

for any blog to be successful on search engine one has to update his post on daily basis. The more unique content posted the better result you get.

To bring traffic to a new blog.
Thanks for sharing! Can you please tell me how I can find high PR sites for diverting the traffic to a new site? As you have suggested that we can gain popularity through Blog commenting and Forum posting.

I run a blog and what I do to increase traffic is to advertise on other blogs, advertise and be active on forums, and use social sites to help build more traffic. Doing all these things will not only bring you more traffic but build your backlinks.
http://www.socialmonkee.com/ is a good site to help increase backlinks. I use them and have seen my backlinks steadily go up.

It is very important that you produce quality first in your site before you plan on producing quality whatsoever on other sites. Utilize social networking sites and invest more on backlinks.

By adding links to sites you like in your blogroll, the owners of those blogs will find your blog and will be likely to add a reciprocal link in their blogrolls. It's an easy way to get the link to your blog in front of many readers on other blogs. The hope is that some of those readers will click on the link to your blog on the other blogs' blogrolls and find your content interesting and enjoyable turning them into loyal readers.

In my point of view for bring traffic to new blog you have to do the following step which are listed below:-
1. Submit blog to search engines, directories, etc.
2. Write articles and submit to article directories
3. Submit to bookmarking and social news sites
4. Post to forums with keyword using URL or anchor text
5. Post into social bookmarking etc.

My advice for new blogs is to spend 15 minutes a day joining new forums, spend time sharing your knowledge and then ask for feedback on your website, NOT the other way around, you must show value first before you ask for something in return, you would not like it that way around on your website!

This is fantastic info! As far as online marketing goes SEO is probably my weakest link.
