How am I supposed to practice web design?
I started using some website that would give free domains a while ago, but something happened where they said I had to name it under a specific URL. So what I want to do is try and use another recommended site that will let me use a free domain so that I can practice dreamweaver. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or do I really need money to practice this CS5 program?

Why do you need a server for web design practice at all?

Can't say I really know. I have been doing nothing but making graphic logos for clients and decided I should get into web design to make a better income. So the question you guys are asking me, is the question I guess I was trying to ask you. Web design is brand new to me, and I am learning from a book that is taking me through beginner steps. Pardon if I'm not using the correct terms, because my dad kind of seemed confused when I asked for his help as well. The book is the quickstart CS5 books with the white rabbit on the front. It is currently teaching me how to connect to remote severs and such. So I got a free domain from 000webhost.com and I'm planning on using it to learn and practice web design. Like I said this is all new to me, and I am learning about how websites work bit by bit every day.

If you're not using php/mysql, you don't need a hosting account, just use your computer. Even if you use php/mysql, you can install a local server. If not, a .info domain is 3 bucks and hosting can come at 1-2 bucks/month. Don't think it's that expensive. This way you do some testing and can also whip out a portfolio.

I agree with Dojo.. its not that expensive of getting a domain and a paid hosting. You can even practice customizing your website through cpanel.

It appears to me that you are trying to learn how to program (create) a website from a book that is trying to teach you how to use dreamweaver .....
Try this instead
http://www.w3schools.com/
w3 schools will get you heading in the right direction with learning all the new terms and stuff. You don't need to spend any money on any programs right now, everything you need to create a basic website can be obtained on the internet for free. (ie: knowledge, software)
Good luck

Yes as DDS said, use XAMPP as it creates a virtual server environment without having to get hosting.
I personally would rather learn Web Coding from scratch than learning Dreamweaver though, never particually liked that program...
