I don't remember when I read a non fictional book but I read fairy tales/bedtime stories to my children on a daily basis .I often read the bible and I feel at peace.
Redeeming Love - Francine Rivers (Even though some romance is present it's more about serious adult themes.)
The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon (Definitely a nice thriller)
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson (Thriller)
And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie (Thriller)
I like a book namely Dhirubhai's biography. In which how Dhirubhai Ambani discovering and starting their business. How he struggles against their life and how he attains success. And after discovering the business how to manage and run that business is given. That is very praiseworthy and inspiring story.
I recently finished the Millenium / Dragon Tattoo trilogy and found it great. The pace starts slow, then increases continuously though-out each book, and then from book to book as well. By the time you have finished the second book, it is simply totally compulsory to buy the third one, you can't leave it unfinished. It's a single story, spread over three volumes.
The girl with the dragon tattoo
The girl who played with fire
The girl who kicked the hornet's nest
