How can I improve my site? (criticism wanted))
Hey guys, I've been running my blog for almost 2 months now, and am looking for ways to improve it. I need an outsiders take. Feel free to be completely blunt and honest. Everything is fair game, from the design to the content. Let me know, the url is in my signature.

Not the best of starts, I get the 'This site has a poor reputation' warning from Chrome when I first visit it.
I'm not overly keen on the design, I think a customised pre-made theme may well work better, a nice logo would help as well.
Not really had chance to have a proper look at the content but it seems okay at first glance.

The simplicity of your layout is commendable. I do think that your header needs to be bigger. As it is, it drowns against the larger graphics you have per post. Oh, by the way, the graphics opposite each post are great. They catch attention.

I am no so impressed with the images on every post (on the homepage), but I am just not a graphic person. I agree with others that the website needs a better logo.

Whats the poor reputation thing? How do I fix that? I have chrome on my mac but I'm not seeing any poor rep thing.
No interest in using a customized pre-made theme. I want my site to be completely unique. In my mind it takes away some credibility when someone uses someone elses design.
As for the header/navigation. Yeah I guess its not to great. The site grew a lot after the initial design and I had to through that top navigation bar on later. Guess I should probably redesign the site. Wish I had money to get a nice design made... I do everything myself. Header is so small cause I wanted the content to be the center of attention.

When I first visit your site, just viewing the header, I don't get the impression I'm at a tutorial site. I would choose a different color palette, as the current one seems to be a bit bland or dull. The actual post area looks nice and is formatted well, but the white and tan again I feel don't mesh well -- too plain. Here's an example of a site that really screams tuts/design when you visit it

Granted, it is Envato , I think you should try adding more color in your header, maybe some soft gradients and 1px strokes to spice things up.
Good luck

That's a great example Marcom. The website/blog is really well and professionally designed. I love the header but, well, I don't like the logo. I don't like the way it is divided into two parts.

Chrome doesn't offer that as a standard. What extension are you using that produces the warning message? WOT or something?

I'm sure if we have the same understanding about the importance of headers in attracting attention. The header is your "signage" in the internet. If people do not get an understanding of what your blog is about from your header, chances are they won't scroll down.
