I believe you get the award for the best response on this topic. I can't believe people still CONSIDER using Photoshop for professionally designing logos, business cards, etc. these days. The fact that some designers still don't know the difference between vector and raster is enough to drive me crazy. I just feel bad for their clients when they realize that they won't be able to make the design any larger than it was when it was given to them.

How about creating graphics for the web? You don't do all that in vector using Illustrator. Not everyone here is talking about logo's and print work.
On topic: First thing I do is press 'D' aswell, then shift + F5 & ENTER to fill the canvas with white. Even though my background color has to be a different color quite often
