  Old  Swine Flu

So, anybody worried about it?

Apparently it's killed hundreds over the last 3 days, and there was a suspected outbreak about an hours drive from me (Paignton in England)

I think it got a lot of hype at first because people we unsure of the potential damage it could cause. 1 person has died in the U.S. that was very young, but many people are treated as any normal flu would. Get lots of rest, liquids and possibly anti-viral medicine. Thousands die every year from the regular flu.

My dad works at the largest health care clinic in Chicago, hes been getting people in all day thinking they have it; none have yet. He said that this flu has killed two people in America, the person today and someone about 30 years ago (yes, this flu has been around that long). The dead in Mexico could be due to a number of reasons, inferior health care being one of them.

The media loves inducing fear, even panic when they can because there is good money in it. This whole thing is no big deal and will pass soon enough.

It's all hype....

I have a blogspot on the subject to see if I can monetize on this hype. If so, then I know what I am doing this summer. D:

Swine Flu reached England now? that is very alarming. I heard there a first casualty also in New York. I just wish it will not reached us, our state is much near in Mexico than New York.

As someone already mentioned the 'normal' flu has been around for years and kills a lot of people already. Granted this is a new strain, hopefully it won't be the end of the world.. things seem 'controlled' in the US at least everywhere but New York. 51 reports so far I believe as of today.

I don't see what there is to be alarmed about. I was told that it could get bad if it mutates and is untreatable with current flu vaccines. I think the biggest concern, as with the typical flu, is the health of young ones and the elderly. Still, I'm with VI, if it bleeds it leads. That's how it works in the news business.

1) It's not new.

2) There have not been hundreds of deaths in mexico.

3) If you are panicked by the flu, I suspect you are the intellectual equivalent of a smoked ham.
