Old  Feedback on a design so far?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently working on a re-design for http://www.geeklayer.net/ (my own company), and ended up with this so far. What do you think?

Overall this is a nice design. But I do think there is an issue of whether it fits the content.

First of all Colors. The pink pops nicely but the combination with the dark stripe pattern just looks off. GeekLayers should show geek in some way... maybe even subtly with the use of a header image or something. You could try to fill the page more as well the content just seems lacking. Also the header is fat it could stand to lose a few pounds.

More good points... the markup seems clean and css looks good in ff and safari on mac. I think it is very close. Adding one more row for content or longer columns and some images(nerdy or hardware screaming) would bring it home.

Some picture ideas:

You get the idea.

Nice work. Can't wait to see where you go from here.

Hmm..it's pretty goood so far..but it looks a little 'flat'. Try doing something with the background and headers instead of just having it as one solid color.

Something to help it stand out.

Boy is my face red... Remove this line from my critique "First of all Colors. The pink pops nicely but the combination with the dark stripe pattern just looks off."... now read the rest it still applies. You really need some graphics to fill out this template. I think most of all this doesn't say hosting to me... I think some good images would correct that.

Tbh, I think that the original design is looking better than the re-design as it stands

I think that as sjs has said, graphics would really help bring the new layout to life, and would possibly give it the edge over the original, but also, the deepness and strength of the colours on the first seems to be far more effective than the second one, in my opinion

Nice work, but still needs a bit of work to surpass the original

I agree with Lynch.
The original is better then the redesign.

The redesign, looks good too, it's much cleaner then the original piece. I would remove the big >>> in the header.

I don't got so much to say, else then that.
