I just look at my stats. In Awstats under robots and spider visits will tell you when was the last visit.

You can see it in the last visits when googlebot visited your site . Also in google search on your site the cache gives you an indea when it last visited .

You can use PHP to send a mail when Google pays a visit
<?php
$email = "emailaddress@host.com";
if(eregi(”googlebot”,$_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']))
{
mail($email, "Spider passed",
"Google crawled " . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
}
?>
Hope this helps,
Wezy

I think you want to know when your site last crawled by google. that you can know with catch:{url} in google or from your webmaster account.
