Intel Core i7
I was thinking about getting a new PC with the new Intel Core i7 processor - does anyone think it's worth getting?

What you gonna use it for? If your gonna use it for gaming, then there's not much point. Better off getting a 775 system instead.

We need more information. To give you an answer would be like answering "I am looking at a Ford, should I buy it?"

Why would it not be good for gaming? It's actually pretty much focused on improving gaming.

For the most part: - Browse the net via Firefox
- Use Photoshop (CS2)
- Looking to start playing a MMORPG such as Lineage II maybe.
I want: - To be able to run an OS with absolute minimal loading time and resource hogging
- All functions should be swift and minimal crashing due to processing/memory load

It's not just a processor you'll need, but a hefty amount of RAM and a good motherboard.
So I'd go with at least 4GB of ram, and of course the motherboard should have slots to hold at least 8GB (you'd have to do 4x2GB sticks.) Keep in mind you need a 64-bit version to take advantage of that amount of ram.
I'm not big on buying items that are literally just released without letting it sit in the market for awhile to have others test that it's worth the money. I'm still a huge fan of the Q6600 processor.

Ahh no. Core i7 was more designed as a professional board. It was not designed with gaming in mind. Yes it can overclock but still it is more of a 'professional' chip/mobo.
Unless you have CS4, Photoshop cannot utilize a quad, so a dual core will do just fine.
Here's what I would recommend.
Intel Core 2 Duo e8400
Thermaltake Ultra 120 (depending on if your Overclocking)
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L or Asus P5Q Pro
Antec 300
Corsair VX550W
WD 640GB HD (maybe 2 in raid 0?)
4gb of 1066mhz ram (depends if your overclocking, if your not, put some money on CAS4 RAM)
For graphics it depends on what you want.
If you have a 24" monitor, either get a 4870 1gb or a GTX 260+ 216
if your monitor is smaller, get a 4850 (look at the new sapphire model, it's got a nice cooler)
Yea that's it

Haha, thank you for the very precise details on what to get. I'm definately going to pick up a few of the components you mentioned - I guess I should just stick with a dual core for now seeing as I don't do too much gaming.
Thanks Matsta!

Anytime dude
Actually, I would get a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, just saw some reviews and the board runs pretty cool, so you can OC it pretty hard. Plus it's about $100US so it's still quite cheap.
