Anyone have experience advertising?
Any stories or helpful tips? How about ads on Facebook?
I'm seeing great success with Google, but terrible results from experimenting with ads on Facebook. I'm actually surprised at just how awful the response on Facebook has been.

Facebook is really great source for Advertising, but it would be better to create the huge and trusted network. After that you can get good response.

I tend to stay away from google and facebook adds, you will get traffic, but not sales.

I tried facebook advertising and I spent a couple hundred and I saw little to no results. You're better off advertising on forums, websites, blog, etc. Facebook, google, yahoo, and sites like those require that you have thousands of dollars in order to be successful.

I've had a few CPA campaigns that I ran on Facebook that did O.K. I stopped, because the ROI was getting wasn't worth the risk to keep running the ads. I do know a few people who have made some good money off Facebook CPA campains. I just spend my time and money in other things and let someone figure out marketing for me. I think it's all about targeting the right people and using the right headings and images. If you are selling something don't mislead them into thinking they are getting something for free. I always do PPC and don't care how many people see it before someone decides to click, because when the DO click they know they are going to see a product for sale.

It depends on the service or product. If you are advertising a service, I target businesses directly with my own time and effort (usually little costs).

How about instead of placing ads on Facebook, you create a fan page instead and develop a strong community of fans. That would be more effective and free of costs.

That's only to be expected. You can't have a success story with every marketing strategy. The good thing is that you seem to be making progress with at least one strategy, which just means that you should focus on that.

Facebook is a great marketing platform. That is if you did well with your marketing plan. Remember that Facebook is a social network not an ad space. With that, you need to do promotions in a social networking way like building relationships, etc.
