Old  Best FREE PHP Programming Software

Hi everyone,

New to this forum, but not new to programming.

Looking for recommendations on php programming software.

I've used Dreamweaver in the past but just got a new pc and don't want to go paid. Looking for a freeware/shareware alternative.

Please don't suggest notepad. I'm able to code in notepad but would like some extras (easier viewing of code, etc.).

Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance. I know you all will have some great suggestions/recommendations.

Great suggestion Andrew. Thanks for the recommendation. Has a lot of the features I'm looking for and it's FREE!

I appreciate it. Any other suggestions?

I love phpDesigner. You can get a Deprecated Personal license here, although it's definitely worth the money for the professional license.

jEdit is also a pretty good editor.

I must say, I really like dreamweaver just because of it's tool tips in HTML & it's FTP options.

However, I spend a lot of time using Crimson Editor. It does have a pretty stupid icon but other then that it's quick, great for php and colours and it's free!

Great suggestions everyone. very interesting to see all the different opinions.

I downloaded Notepad++ and I like it so far. I'll be downloading and testing some of the other suggestions over the weekend.

Thanks again. Happy holidays.

I just came across http://aptana.com/ today, I'm downloading now. There's a free version but if its as good as it looks I think I'll buy the pro version.

That looks like a nice editor... although I'm a Zend fan I'm going to give this one a shot just to check it out.
