- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Hardcore Gamersฎ
The next generation in online gaming...
Hardcore Gamers is looking for an individual to join our small project team as the lead web programmer and developer. This position will be a paid one, specifics will be discussed in detail through email. We are looking for a deligent and energetic worker. What does that mean? Well, we are looking for someone who can get his job done and have fun doing it. Future work is almost certain based on the quality you can show us with this first project. This individual must be knowledgeable in the areas of; PHP, MySQL, JS, HTML, xHTML*, XML*, CSS*, RSS*. Other web languages known are a plus. We will require everyone interested to send in an application via email with an attatched or linked portfolio for review. Portfolios MUST show off your PHP, MySQL, JS, and HTML knowledge. (More than one portfolio or example will be accepted).
WHAT WE NEED
- - - - - - -
We will need a custom and highly flexible content management system. I will go into a lot more detail once you have been selected to join our team, but for now here's a quick overview of what sections we will need. Each list is for an individual "Section" of the site. The sections with parenthesis ( ) around them should be worked on secondary if possible, we would like to release the site without these pages and add them in later on. So if you can get done with the other sections first, then work with us after we launch the site, that would be ideal. If you have any questions please feel free to ask in your application email or later on.

You need ten posts to post in the market place.
Also, for a good CMS, $500 is literally pocket change. If you are actually looking for a high quality CMS, you are talking in thousands, probably even tens of thousands or more. Just look how much good CMS's cost. I would be very suspicious of anyone who comes to you saying that they can build a good CMS for $500. If you don't believe me, look at CMS400 for example, it is a cheaper CMS compared to other enterprise solutions. It can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 for a copy.
You definitely seem serious, but your budget is too low. You can expect a good programmer to cost from $40 to $80 an hour, $500 will hardly cover a full days work.

Moved this into the correct forum, in future please use the Report feature (punishment for not doing so is listed in the rules). Good luck finding a programmer for your budget.

You'd be better off using Drupal and using a ton of plugins then maybe getting one or two made for it. And the "Currently Playing" feature would set you back quite a bit.

Thank you for moving this. I said I have a budget of $500+ which means I am willing to pay where it is necessary. I have had quite a bit of interest from people who are offering $15/hr. I haven't looked at any of their previous work just yet, but it seems that there is a good number of eager programmers willing to work for less.
I guess this might be due to todays economy, or any number of things but I am not completely opposed to hiring programmers who cost more money.

I promise you that no experienced programmer will charge $15 an hour. You might get someone who can hack together a system that can just do what you want it to for $15/hr, but you will never get a quality CMS from a beginner. What will likely happen however is that the novice programmer will enter in then realize he is over his head and disappear. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen it happen.

I can do this for $3,000 to $4,000 depending on how complex. It will be done in ASP.NET and will be very extendable.
Also could you define your payment percentages? What part do you define as 25% completion?
