Need some advertising advise.
Hey, I recently opened up my new free image hosting service at http://www.imageuppy.com/, I was wondering what you guys think would be a good method of advertising it, or gaining backlinks, etc... Any help would be appreciated.
Currently I'm bringing in about 400-500 hits a day, but I'd like to increase that number.
Thanks a bunch!

...proving, yet again, that "if you build it they will come" has no resonance in business ventures ;^)
Arictos, I recommend you begin by identifying who is likely to use your site, why they would use it and what makes it better than whatever that segment is using now.
"Everyone" and "It's the best" are not realistic answers to this question.
Once you have answers to these (and a few other questions basic to marketing anything) you can set yourself to finding the most efficient way to spread the good word.
Oh, and, don't forget to set yourself some realistic goals regarding hits, conversions, etc. How many sites like yours open in a normal week?

Well, I think 500 hits a day is a good start. It's advisable to optimize your site "onsite" before optimizing it offsite. I just visited your website. It's nice but to be honest I didn't impress me so much.

I just visited your website and I agree with NB, your website needs more colors and images to be more like an image hosting site. As far as promoting it goes, I think article marketing will do.

I disagree with Androidfan, article marketing is not the way here.
Identify not your target audience, but WHO is using the site currently. If it's adult-related sites (the norm for sites like these, imo), then you need to appeal to them more and try to get connected in such communities in order to spread the site around.

What didn't impress you about it? I mean, the goal of the site is to simplify the uploading experience. It's a simple UI, no advertisements currently inplace. No redirect after the upload (javascript popup). What's not to like?

Personally, I like the website. It does simplify the uploading, no having to put any captcha codes in. Or signing up.
What I have noticed though - I can upload ".jpg" files. But not ".JPG" might be worthwhile allowing that, though they are the same, just capitalised.
Advertising in your forum signature here, and other forums would be a good start. Why not create a post? I'm sure many designers would move simply because it's easy to upload to - and no ads, which is great.

You can take part in forums of photos. There are some forums for photograph lovers. There are also some forums which contains section about this. You can promote your website there.
